Overview
Developed as a strategic design study for the premium UK childrenswear market, this project focuses on creating elevated, commercially driven graphics for the 5-10 age demographic. The concept centers on a "Modern Woodland" aesthetic, balancing minimalist Scandinavian illustration styles with high-street retail trends.
Design Philosophy & Symbolism
The artwork features a stylized fox, a perennial favorite in British children’s fashion, reimagined through a "folk-art" lens.
The Character: The fox represents curiosity and independence core values that resonate with both parents and children.
Narrative Details: The inclusion of a vintage compass and a textured scarf transforms a simple animal graphic into a "Little Explorer," adding a layer of storytelling that enhances brand engagement.
Typography: Paired with clean, modern sans-serif typography ("Wild at Heart") to maintain a fresh and sophisticated visual balance.
Technical Execution & Manufacturing Specs
Leveraging my background in garment merchandising, this design is engineered for production efficiency and product integrity:
Software: Vectorized in Adobe Illustrator for precise scalability and color separation photorealistic mockups developed in Adobe Photoshop using advanced displacement mapping.
Printing Method: Recommended for Water-based Screen Printing to ensure a "soft-hand" feel, crucial for children’s comfort and tactile quality.
Color Standards: Curated a trend-led palette using Pantone TCX references (Roasted Cashew, Golden Rod, and Dress Blues) to ensure consistency across global supply chains.
Compliance: Specified for Phthalate-free inks and OEKO-TEX® certified substrates, meeting international safety standards for premium kidswear.
